Thomas: Chalmers will aid title tilt
Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas believes new loan signing Lewis Chalmers will bolster the U's squad as they chase promotion to League Two.
The central midfielder enjoyed a successful spell with Aldershot in 2007/8 and helped the Shots to Blue Square Premier title glory.
Thomas is of the opinion that Chalmers' experience will be crucial as the second-placed U's enter the title run-in.
"To be able to add a player like Lewis at this stage of the season to our squad is great, as Lewis has been there and seen what we expect to see in this last set of games," the United supremo told Witney Gazette.
"It is going right to the wire and we have to ensure that we have a squad that can compete in what are all going to be big games," he added
Oxford are currently two points adrift of league leaders Stevenage Borough but Chris Wilder's men have two games in hand.
In other news, it has been reported that midfielder Lee Fowler has left the Kassam Stadium outfit.
