Waddock snaps up Rushden's Howell
Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock has made his first summer signing with the capture of Rushden and Diamonds' Dean Howell on a two-year deal.
The 27-year old made 49 appearances for Diamonds last season and can count Crewe Alexandra, Colchester United, Morecambe, Halifax Town and Weymouth amongst his former clubs.
"Dean will fit in nicely," Waddock told the club's official website.
"He is the type of player that I like and he knows a bit about what Aldershot Town is all about.
"He will give us a bit of balance and he gives us a bit of competition too.
"Dean is adaptable and versatile and a good addition to the group."
Meanwhile, defender Louie Soares has given manager Waddock a further boost by agreeing a new two-year deal this week.
Waddock added: "There has been interest in Louie and there was in the transfer window too.
"He is an extremely talented footballer who will want to knuckle down this season and command a regular starting place.
"He is still young and still developing all the time. I rate him highly as a player and again this gives us more competition. We are healthy in those areas and looking strong."
