John Grant
Aldershot 3-1 Stevenage
Aldershot Town restored their six-point advantage at the top of the Blue Square Premier table with a comfortable win over Stevenage Borough at Recreation Ground.
The Shots got off to the best possible start when leading marksman John Grant slotted home a Lewis Chalmers cross in the ninth minute.
The forward was in the thick of the action and earned his side a penalty in the 17th minute after Stevenage's Fred Murray was adjudged to have fouled him in the penalty area.
Grant made no mistake with the resulting spot kick and the home side further extended their advantage on the half-hour when Daniel Hylton converted a Kirk Hudson cross at the right-hand side of the six-yard box.
Stevenage tried to battle their way back into the game but Gavin Grant's 62nd minute goal was nothing more than a consolation as the hosts held firm.
