Chris Wilder
Burton Albion denied Wilder talks
Burton Albion have failed in a bid to lure Oxford United boss Chris Wilder to the Pirelli Stadium next season.
The U's turned down an approach from the Brewers to speak to Wilder after they announced that current care-taker boss Roy McFarland is parting company with the club.
Burton chairman Ben Robinson told BBC Radio Derby: "We're drawing up a list and wanted to talk to Chris. We approached Oxford but they denied us permission.
"We haven't got anyone who's top of the list but he's somebody we wanted to speak to and include on our shortlist."
McFarland helped the Brewers secure promotion to the Football League on the final day of the season, but has ruled himself out of the reckoning for the job on a permanent basis.
