Clough backing Brewers for title

Former Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough is hoping that his former charges can secure promotion to the Football League on Sunday.

Clough left the Brewers to take up the manager's position at Championship outfit Derby County earlier in the season and Albion's form dipped as a result.

The Brewers looked clear favourites to take the title before Clough departed. However, things have not worked out quite as they had planned.

Burton need at least a point to secure automatic promotion over the weekend and Clough is hoping for the best for his former club.

Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "Come Sunday night our aim is to see us safe and Burton in the Football League.

"I sincerely hope that they can do it."
