Dicks confident of staying up

Grays Athletic boss Julian Dicks is still optimistic that his charges can avoid relegation from the Blue Square Premier this season.

The former West Ham player's side are 14 points from safety after their 1-1 draw with Altricham on Saturday, but Dicks believes they have what it takes to secure their place in the division next term.

He told the Thurrock Gazette:"We have to believe that we are capable of staying in this league.

"Performances like today's (Saturday) show we still have a chance.

"All I ask of my players is that they put in a performance and that is what they did.

"I would have taken a point before we set out from Essex."
