Antonio Murray
Cambridge snap up Murray
Cambridge United have moved quickly to sign a replacement for Andy Parkinson, who had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
The winger made just 27 starts for the U's since joining in 2008 with an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained in training at the beginning of last season limiting his playing time at the club.
Chelmsford City winger Antonio Murray will slot into his position until the end of the season
The 25-year-old former Histon player, who has also turned out for Ipswich Town and Hibernian and scored 33 goals in 89 starts for the Stutes but left the club in May having not signed an extension to his contract.
U's boss Martin Ling was full of praise for the departed Parkinson but welcomed his new arrival.
He told the club's official website: "Andy is the perfect example of a professional footballer but due to circumstances it just didn't work out for him at this Club.
"He's conduced himself in an exemplary manner during his time here and we all wish him well for his future career.
"Antonio is versatile player has a good goal scoring record in the Conference.
"He's been training with us for the last week and has impressed me, so it's now up to the boy to show me he can be a part of my future plans."
Murray revealed his joy at having signed for the club: "I'm delighted to be here. I've supported the club since a youngster and with my Dad playing here too, it's very proud moment for me. I'll be doing everything I can to earn the right to be part of Martin's plans for the future."
