Clough bemoans refereeing decisions
Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough was less than impressed with a number of refereeing decisions he believes cost his side a victory in the play-off semi-final 1st leg against Cambridge United.
The Brewers looked to be cruising for a comfortable win but saw their two-goal cushion decimated by two controversial decisions late on.
Clough was also understandably upset over the fact that two of his side's goals were disallowed.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "It's unfortunate, in a game like that, that we end up talking about refereeing decisions that have made a major difference to the outcome of the game.
"Sir Alex Ferguson was moaning last week about a penalty that was given for handball when the player was about 15 yards away - well, Paul Hurst was about a yard away tonight and the linesman's given it.
"The officials have got to be absolutely certain when they give decisions from 25 yards away that absolutely change the complexion of a game."
"Yes, we have lost a two-goal lead but we don't feel we've given goals away. There have been decisions which have taken our lead away."
