Histon v York
York City have the chance to steal a march on their play-off rivals with a win at Histon on Tuesday.
The Minstermen are currently third in the Blue Square Premier League standings, having played a game less than Mansfield and Kettering in fourth and fifth and with a five-point gap, it is an opportunity not to be wasted.
They come up against a Histon side stuck in mid-table and struggling for consistency. The Stutes have a decent record against the smaller sides but regularly come unstuck against the higher-placed teams.
Adam Tann will return for Histon after being forced off during Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Luton with the centre-back's Achilles injury not as serious as it first appeared while Danny Wright, who was also a casualty of that match with a back problem, looks set to miss the tie.
With this in mind boss Alan Lewer is working hard to add to his squad as they bid to finish the season on a high.
He told Cambridge News: "The players I'm looking at would all be quite decent signings for us. I'm hoping we could get two of them before the window closes. We could maybe even get three, if we do our homework properly."
York manager Martin Foyle has had to defend his side against boo boys, who have rounded on the team's poor playing style. The Minstermen boss has cited the poor playing surface at the club's KitKat Crescent and is delighted that the team's next to games are away from home.
"I've seen Histon's pitch and, even though it's a bit heavy, we will be able to get the ball down and play there, he told the York Press.
Richard Brodie and Chris Carruthers could both be back in contention alongside Alex Lawless while David McGurk and Levi Mackin are both expected to keep their place after returning from injury in York's last encounter.
