Diamonds snare Torquay striker Phillips
Rushden and Diamonds have continued their rebuilding process for the season ahead with the capture of Torquay United striker Lee Phillips.
The Penzance-born forward joined the Gulls for a fee of £17,500 on a three-year deal in June last year and has made almost 50 appearances, scoring 12 goals in the process.
"I'm here to score goals, but to also do a lot of the dirty work and set up goals," Phillips told Rushden's official website.
"I'll work the channels hard and I'll run into the ground if needs be.
"I'm excited to be here and just want to get the season started now.
"The Gaffer's aspirations are very big, and you can see that by the players he's signing and calibre of players he's trying to get in.
"It's a big step for me and I'm sure it's going to be one I'll enjoy."
Phillips stated his career as a youth trainee with Plymouth Argyle and eventually signed for Weymouth on a free transfer in March 2001.
He stayed with the Terras for four years before signing for Exeter City in February 2002, where he made over ninety first-team appearances.
