Kassam Stadium Oxford United 2-1 StevenageOxford United put a slight dent in Stevenage Borough's hopes of claiming a play-off spot with a 2-1 victory at the Kassam Stadium on Easter Monday.
The home side started brightly and thoroughly deserved to take the lead in the 26th minute.
Phil Trainer was the man who grabbed that goal when he headed home a pinpoint Eddie Anaclet cross.
Despite going a goal down, the visitors pushed in search of an equaliser before the break, but the hosts defended resolutely to keep the scoreline the same at half-time.
Boro started the second-half as they finished the first and deserved to equalise when they did in the 68th minute.
John Martin scored the goal from 25 yards out after picking up a Scott Laird cross.
But their joy was short lived as the home side hit back immediately through Matthew Green to restore their lead.
Boro tried to force the issue towards the end but nothing came of it as the U's ran out victors.
