A John Grant strike was enough to ensure league leaders Aldershot extended their dominance at the Blue Square Premier summit with a 1-0 win over Oxford.

The U's started the game as the more spirited of the sides with efforts from Phil Trainer and Matthew Green falling narrowly wide of goal.

Visiting hitman Justin Richards wasted two brilliant opportunities at goal in the first-half, nailing one wide and the other straight at Shots keeper Nikki Bull.

The hosts revealed their class through Grant in the 65th minute welcomely ending a two-match losing streak, reiterating their position in the Premier.
