Steve Evans Aldershot 0-1 CrawleyAldershot suffered a home defeat on Bank Holiday Monday after Jon-Paul Pittman scored the telling goal for Crawley Town and then got sent off.
Pittman found the back of the net on 53 minutes when he headed home Dannie Bulman's free-kick before being cautioned while celebrating.
Then 14 minutes later Pittman was shown his marching orders after bringing down Aldershot's Rob Gier. It was a needless dismissal considering the manner of his first yellow card.
The Recreation Ground faithful had their hands on their heads after substitute Louis Soares saw his shot cannon off the post from 18 yards but the Red Devils held on to claim three points.
The result moves Crawley behind Aldershot on the Blue Square Premier table to 11th place, with the clubs separated on goal difference as both have nine points from five games.
