Altrincham boosted their chances of survival after recording a hard-fought draw with promotion hopefuls Torquay on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors drew first blood when Kevin Hill sent a looping shot into the back of the net after 55 minutes of play.

The hosts drew level 10 minutes later as Joe O'Neill put in an inviting cross from the right wing and Colin Little met it with a well-placed header.

The Gulls had a golden opportunity to snatch the win in second-half injury time but Chris Hargreaves' close range header somehow missed the target.
