Rushden 1-0 Altrincham

Rushden & Diamonds further distanced themselves from the relegation zone with a hard-fought win over Altrincham at Nene Park.

The home side got off to great start when Michael Rankine headed in a Marcus Kelly corner kick at the centre of the penalty area.

The Diamonds almost doubled their advantage in the 86th minute but Michael Rankine saw his lobbed effort saved by Altrincham goalkeeper Stuart Coburn.

The visitors had a late chance of their own but Colin Little's left-footed volley from 12 yards missed the target in injury time.
