Peter Taylor Stevenage 1-2 NorthwichDino Maamria's Northwich Victoria ended Stevenage Borough's play-off dreams on Tuesday night with a battling victory at Broadhall Way.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Michael Carr fired a 20-yard effort into the bottom-left corner.
Northwich held onto their first-half lead and doubled their advantage thanks to Joel Byrom's close-range finish in the 58th minute.
Stevenage pulled one back in the 68th minute when Sammy Moore knocked a left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner from 25 yards out.
The hosts almost drew level late in injury time but Daryl McMahon's curled free kick was tipped around the post by Northwich goalkeeper Scott Tynan.
After this latest result Peter Taylor's men will have to cast their sights to next season, as they have missed out on the promotion play-offs.
However, Northwich Victoria supporters will be celebrating this evening with the knowledge that their team have enough points to stay up.
