Chris Zebroski Torquay 4-2 StevenageTorquay got back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon after storming to an emphatic 4-2 victory over promotion rivals Stevenage at Plainmoor.
The home side opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through Chris Zebroski, who was first to the ball in the six-yard box after Boro goalkeeper Alan Julian parried Ishmael Welsh's left-footed shot.
The visitors equalised two minutes later through Craig Dobson, who curled his shot into the bottom-right corner from 18 yards after a shot from Stuart Lewis was blocked.
But the Gulls restored their advantage before the break when Zebroski got his second of the game in fine fashion on 42 minutes, lobbing Julian from 25 yards and sending the ball into the top-left corner.
Julian was then at fault for Torquay's third goal after making a mess of Kevin Nicholson's corner and bundling the ball into his own net on 53 minutes.
Lee Phillips put the result beyond doubt three minutes later with a superb volleyed effort into the top-left corner from six yards after a strike from Zebroski was blocked.
Tesfaye Bramble grabbed a consolation goal for the visitors with five minutes remaining but it was not enough to stop Torquay from moving back to the top of the Blue Square Premier table.
Stevenage are four points behind Torquay in fourth place.
