Stuart Fleetwood Forest Green 2-0 HalifaxTwo goals inside the opening five minutes handed Forest Green Rovers a much needed victory over Halifax Town at the Lawn on Saturday afternoon.
Stuart Fleetwood was the man who got the ball rolling for the home side when he slotted home from close range after a superb corner from Alex Lawless was headed into his path by Chris Giles.
And it was Fleetwood again in the fifth minute who doubled the home side's advantage with a wonderful strike from 18 yards out thanks to some excellent play by Lawless once again.
Despite the home sides early dominance, the remainder of the fixture turned out to be an even affair.
Seemingly shocked by the early onslaught, Halifax could not muster up anything meaningful in front of goal and because of that, they left the Lawn with nothing.
The result keeps Rovers' hopes of reaching the play-offs alive, while the Shaymen continue to look nervously over their shoulder at the chasing relegation pack.
