Wayne Hatswell Cambridge United 2-0 Forest GreenCambridge United increased their chances of cementing a play-off place with 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
The home side had the visitors on the backfoot early and made their dominance count on four minutes.
Rovers' Jamie Pitman brought down Stephen Reed on the edge of the penalty area and Wayne Hatswell stepped up to score an outstanding goal from the resulting free-kick.
The home side continued to dominate the game and will feel a little aggrieved not to have added to their lead in the first-half.
The second goal finally came for United thanks to some impressive play from Mark Preece.
Preece made the visiting defence look like schoolboys as he strolled through to score the vital second on 64 minutes.
That was all the home side had in the tank in terms of goals, but their domination all over the pitch made sure that the visitors could not mount a serious comeback.
