Halifax Town 2-2 York CityIt was honours even at The Shay on Tuesday evening as football fans were treated to an exciting local derby.
The visitors handed a full debut to new on loan striker Leo Fortune-West alongside the recalled Onome Sodje. Skipper Emmanuel Panther, who had been a slight injury doubt before kick-off, was named on the bench.
The visitors were rocked when their opponents opened the scoring on 27 minutes, with recalled striker Nathan Joynes sending a glancing header past Evans from Kearney's free-kick.
The Minstermen responded with Woolford firing straight into keeper Adam Legzdins' clutches a minute later.
Nevertheless, York were soon on level terms after Wroe's 33rd minute free-kick was partially cleared and the ball was returned forward by Darren Craddock for Sodje to beat the offside trap and stab a low finish past Legzdinis.
Both sides were attacking towards their respective fans in the second-half, and home defender Thomas Harban had an early volley blocked by David McGurk, while Wroe dragged a 25-yard shot wide at the opposite end.
The Minstermen went ahead when Woolford dispatched a 72nd minute free-kick from the edge of the area into the bottom left-hand corner for his seventh goal in as many games.
But the contest was level eight minutes later after Elliott's misplaced pass across the face of his own area allowed debutante substitute Mark Whitehouse to run through and beat Evans.
