Paul Buckle Boro quash Buckle linkStevenage Borough chairman Phil Wallace has denied reports touting Torquay boss Paul Buckle as the forerunner to fulfill the vacant Broadhall Way hot seat.
The Blue Square Premier club announced the departure of manager Peter Taylor on Tuesday, following his failure to guide Boro into a play-off spot.
And reports were then quick to suggest that Buckle was the primary candidate to replace Taylor, while Forest Green Rovers boss Jim Harvey was also linked with the position.
However, the club's plans to announce a successor 'within seven to ten days' rules out Buckle, who is focused on helping the Gulls gain promotion to the Football League.
Buckle told This Is South Devon: "I can't stop people writing stuff, but I don't feel I need to comment on something like that.
"When a job comes up, people get linked with it. It happens all the time.
"But I haven't spoken to anyone at Stevenage."
The United boss signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with the Gulls in January and club boss Colin Lee made it clear Buckle will not be leaving Plainmoor anytime soon.
Lee said: "Someone did bring the article to my attention.
"Paul is contracted to Torquay United, we've not had any indication from anyone about an approach for him and, as far as we're concerned, that's the end of the matter." Posted: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 more Top Stories
