Steve Evans Evans: I wish I behaved betterAs Steve Evan's first season in charge of Crawley Town comes to an end, the fiery manager reflects on an eventful season with his only regret being not keeping his mouth shut a bit more on the sidelines.
The Red Devils boss reflected on his 2007/08 Blue Square Premier campaign which included four charges of improper conduct by the FA for rants at the referee in 2008 alone.
In 2007, the 45-year-old coach was fined £500 for sarcastically clapping the match official in a match against Altrincham.
The Scot told the Crawley Observer:"I would have probably shut up at times at referees this season.
"I have spoken to some of the fans and they think the whole day is enjoyable at Crawley.
"There is always something happening, there is a fantastic young team for them to watch on the pitch, and a passionate management team on the sidelines, although by my own admission I am overly passionate sometimes and have at times crossed the line."
Besides his altercations with match officials, Evans insists he would not have changed anything about his first season in charge.
"It has been a transitional season. Supporters asked me at the start of season what I would deliver and I said if we finish mid-table, come through the CVA, make sure the players are paid, have a cup run then it's a good season." Posted: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 more Top Stories
